Program Description:
A career in criminal justice offers many benefits and possibilities. Among them are: working in a professional environment, job security, the potential for career advancement, and the personal satisfaction of doing interesting, highly valuable work that serves the public. The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice program focuses on crime, law enforcement, correction, and the criminal justice system. Applying an interdisciplinary approach, this program helps students understand the mechanisms of social control and the resolution of criminal justice problems, including currently accepted procedures which are updated on a continuing basis. Graduates of this program may secure employment in the criminal justice system in a variety of positions including counselor, juvenile parole or correctional officer, private investigator, social worker, or caseworker.

 

About Everest University Online

Everest University Online began its venture into online learning in the winter quarter of 1999 by offering five courses on two campuses. After our initial pilot phase, Everest expanded its online course offerings to include all nine Everest campuses for the winter quarter of 2000. At the same time, we received approval to develop online enrollment for any of the courses within the standardized Business Administration program. In the Fall of 2001, additional approval was granted to offer the Accounting and Criminal Justice programs online.

Since the winter term of 2000, Everest has consistently added courses within these Associate's and Bachelor's degrees. Today all of the courses necessary to complete the degrees are available online, which now includes Master's programs.

The courses are built and maintained on the eCollege platform, which is media intensive and has highly effective pedagogical and course authoring tools. All instructors are required to complete an intensive teacher-education course, which prepares them to teach and/or create a course following specific course construction guidelines.
